Kids on Track 2014

My childhood friend Erin runs a wonderful program called Kids on Track. During the summer months participants commit to running a marathon in small chunks. All along the way community partners offer incentives to encourage our small and adolescent runners. The program culminates in a festival where families run that last 1.2 miles together at a local park.

This is our second year with the program. Lilah loves it! The 1.2 mile finale course is a two loop course around a beautiful lake. Runners start and finish under an impressive balloon archway. According to my daughter, the balloon archway makes the race. In fact she calls the event "my balloon race."

She takes it seriously. Here is Lilah vying for a prime spot with the "elite" runners.

This year I had the great fortune of photographing the finale. It was a blast working an event that brings my personal family so much joy and brings the community together around fitness. Plus, there was a lot of cute to work with: multiple bounce houses, face-painting, barbecue, snow cones,  and more. All of the participants even get free t-shirts and finisher medals. Here's my girl taking a breath with her brother after finishing her balloon race.

Back to work on the rest of the photos...

Be well, KFW
