A Romantic Home Town Holiday

In honor of our ninth wedding anniversary, Chris and I spent the whole Saturday together, just the two of us.  My parents took the kids and we treated ourselves to good food and quality time. We had daydreamed about beaches and vacations, but it wasn't in the cards this year, so we planned a simple wonderful hometown holiday.

In the morning we went to the gym. Afterward, we ate lunch at Main Squeeze. We frequented Main Squeeze as undergraduates and have recently rediscovered just how sweet our local vegetarian cafe is.

Our next stop was the new olive oil and balsamic bar. Delish! Seriosuly, we had to contain ourselves. We each picked one bottle. After a bit more window shopping (and a little bookstore shopping too) we headed to Les Bourgeious.  The sun was hot, the band was loud. We cuddled close and looked out at the swollen river.

For dinner we ate at Abigails. We had eaten there the night after we were married, nine years ago. However, we had forgotten how good it was. Needless to say we won’t stay away that long again.  It’s a tiny local place. Every dish is cooked with unique ingredients and care. The menu also changes nightly. I got red tuna with mint and mango. Chris opted for beef fillets with mushroom and red wine.  They even sent us home with chocolate cake!

The day went quickly, too quickly.  We stretched it out just a little longer, with an evening walk around the fountain.

The amazing comfort of both quiet and easy talk with my bashert is good for the soul. After twelve years together, there are few things I cherish more than quality time with my partner in adventure.
