My student, Jenny Yao was recognized at our school board meeting for her HUGE honor of being named a Presidential Scholar! I am so proud of this remarkable scholar and person. Each year, up to 141 students are named as Presidential Scholars, the nation's highest honor for a high school student. The program was established in 1964 to recognize and honor some our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each Presidential Scholar invites his or her most inspiring and challenging teacher to travel to Washington, DC with them. On the 50th anniversary of this award, I was very honored that Jenny chose me! More on our trip next month...
