The last couple days have reaffirmed my belief that kids need time to be outside, time to play, time to stretch, time to be still, time to laugh, time to think, time to reflect, and time to write. And they need more time to do all of these things then we are usually able to give them in the high-school school day. Great retreat!

Day One of our First Annual Sophomore RetrEEEt
We couldn't have ordered a more beautiful day to spend at RB State Park. We wrote in the morning, took a nice hike, led the kids through two classes on mindfulness and personal belief, ate lunch near some great climbing trees, climbed those trees, hiked back to enjoy Popsicles followed by a panel discussion with some recent RB graduates. We finished the day with a bonfire complete with hot dog and s'mores roast, Frisbee, and singing. I can't think of a more fun way to spend my work day.
